Calisthenics is a strength-training method that can be performed anywhere, basically with no or very minimal equipment. You do abdominal exercises to build a strong core, push-ups for chest and shoulders, pull-ups for back, squats, lunges, skip rope to build stronger legs. It is an amazing training method to get your self into the best shape, both physically and mentally.

After 30 years of weight training

I have been into fitness since the age of 12, when I bought my first set of dumbbells, and I have been training ever since. I consider myself great at learning new skills, and it was no different when it came to fitness. I have learned everything about fitness from reading books, magazines, YouTube videos, reading fitness blogs. It has been an amazing journey that I am very proud to have had this passion for health and fitness from a very young age. It has always been about having that perfect body, the ones you see with fitness models on the front page of Men’s Health magazine, Men’s Fitness magazine, Muscle & Fitness Magazine; these are some of the titles I used to buy every month. I never gave up trying to have that perfect body for over the last 30 years. I am very pleased with my journey over that time and that I never gave up.

Is Weight Training the only method of having that perfect six-pack

When growing up and pretty much my whole life, I believed that to have that perfect body, and I have to be doing weight training 6 days a week for the entirety of my life. I have tried over the years, but I have always struggled with the nutrition side of things; it was never working hard in the gym. If anything, I have worked my arse off at times to reach my goal. I have been naive in thinking that I could eat what ever I like and I will have this perfect body from just my hard work.

How wrong was I

Having that six-pack body starts in the kitchen and not the gym. Please do not make the same mistake I have over the last 28 years. I learned the hard way that what I eat will help me achieve the body I have always wanted. Over the last two years, I have been concentrating on getting the diet correct, which has not been easy by any means. It has been difficult and interesting, to say the least, about learning about protein-rich food, carbohydrates, and, last but not least, fats, learning about the macronutrients required to live a healthy and balanced life.

Do you need performance-enhancing drugs

This has been a big question on my mind many times to get that perfect body. Will I have to start taking performance-enhancing drugs? I am so proud that I have never taken anything apart from multivitamins and diet whey protein shakes, even though it has crossed my thoughts many times. The question is, can you have a great body naturally without feeding yourself with drugs? Yes, and you can; in life, everything is possible. It all comes down to how badly you want it and what you are willing to do to achieve it.

I came across this training method in 2020 during the pandemic when the local gyms were shut down due to the Corona Virus, causing havoc worldwide. Calisthenics/Street Workout was a popular choice because it can be performed in your own house or even the street; hence the name street workout used across Europe. The more I started learning about this method, the more I started believing that it was the missing piece of the puzzle in me achieving that great physique I have always wanted.

Calisthenics is more than just a method to build strength. It is a constant battle of learning and trying to achieve the holds such as Planche, Front Lever, Back Lever, Pull-Ups, L Sits, HandStands, Core/Abs exercises, and so much more. The best thing about it all is that you do not even need any weights, but as you advance, you can start to use a weighted vest just to train those muscles even harder. I am so happy that I found this method of training. It certainly is not easy and takes a lot of practice and training, but I feel stronger now than I ever have my whole life.
